What is the Farm Stand?
New Haven Farms hosts a weekly Saturday farm stand at Ferry Street Farm that runs from Memorial Day weekend through October. Featuring fresh vegetables and herbs grown organically on our urban farm sites, as well as occasional offerings from local partners such as local honey, mushrooms, and fruit, this program helps make nutritious, subsidized food available in the neighborhoods right where it’s grown. Come out to get some delicious vegetables and support our programs!
We also sell vegetable, herb and flower starts at our Annual Seedling Sale, on Memorial Day weekend.
We accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) benefits. We also double the value of these types of payment. For example, for a SNAP purchase of $3, you can buy $6 worth of vegetables.
Farm Stand Pre-Pay: At the beginning of the season (before June 30, 2019), you may pre-pay for produce, and receive an additional 10% credit for amounts over $100 (e.g. a $300 payment becomes $330 in produce credit). We will post an availability list, so you’d know what veggies or special items such as local honey, mushrooms, etc. to expect each week. Any credit not used during the 20+ weeks of the farm stand season would be considered a donation to support our educational programs. You can find more information by following the above link to the Farm Stand Pre-Pay web page.
We also accept cash, credit and debit cards.
Open, drop-in farm volunteering hours are held simultaneously at Ferry Street Farm, from 9am to noon each Saturday. Regular volunteers can receive vegetables for completing shifts as well as credit for community service. To learn more about volunteering with us, email firstname.lastname@example.org or go to our volunteers page.
Is New Haven Farms Certified Organic?
While our produce is not organic-certified (due to the burden of the certification process), we practice organic farming methods. New Haven Farms has signed the CT NOFA Farmer’s Pledge. For any further information regarding our growing practices or our CSA program, please do not hesitate to contact us at email@example.com.
