New Haven Farms is a work site for the summer work-based learning experience program of Youth@Work, a public-private partnership between the City of New Haven, the New Haven Board of Education, Workforce Alliance, the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce, and Empower New Haven.
Each summer, New Haven Farms hosts five youth in this job training program. They join our farm crew for five weeks, learning the ins and outs of running an urban farm. These young people learn valuable skills, farming and otherwise, applicable to all aspects of their lives. This year, in partnership with the New Haven Land Trust, our youth crew will be a group from Growing Entrepreneurs, a 2-year business skills development program for local high schoolers.
