New Haven Farms embraces volunteers to get our work done!

New Haven Farms exists because of volunteers like you who want to be a part of something great. Whether it’s getting your hands in the dirt, assisting with the Farm-Based Wellness Program, or sharing other skills such as graphic design or social media expertise, there’s a place for everyone to contribute and be part of our New Haven Farms community!

Happy Spring! Many of New Haven Farms’ volunteer opportunities open up in the spring, as we look for volunteers to help out on our farms. The Farm-Based Wellness Program starts in late-May, and we need program volunteers on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings, in addition to continued farm volunteering.

Refer to the volunteer openings on this page to see what kind of work there is to do with us, and please contact our Volunteer Coordinator ( with any questions.

Read what our volunteers say about working with us:

“As a recent arrival to New Haven, I have been welcomed with open arms on New Haven Farms’ sites and been privileged to be part of this gem of a community that helps so many people develop a new relationship to food.”

“It’s a privilege to volunteer with New Haven Farms’ Farm Based Wellness Program! It’s literally and figuratively a breath of fresh air. I get to run around with youngins, distract them from their parents (who are putting in real work), practice Spanish, and connect to the future young leaders of the city as the sun sets over the water… Though I know the program is aimed at helping the participants, it has helped ME, as a volunteer, fall further in love with this city and its people.”

“It is enormously rewarding to help our participants choose a better and healthier life style, starting from the very basics: good healthy food. Both participants and volunteers can see (and taste) how real food looks like, right where it is grown, which is a rare opportunity. I like the fact that the program doesn’t give participants a diet to follow for a few weeks, but teaches them how to make long-term changes that can really make a difference. I didn’t know what to expect when I started, but everybody was really welcoming and every time I just easily find my duties for the day and always feel part of a winning team.”

“Volunteering for New Haven Farms gives me the opportunity to give back to the community while providing me with organic farming knowledge! It is exciting to meet other volunteers and farming mentors as we work together toward the same goal.”
